    Domaine A

One of Tasmania's best and most iconic wineries, Domaine A is set in one of the most pristine natural environments in the world. "A magical spot to grow Cabernet ... producing wines of great elegance and finesse" (Wine Advocate), Domaine A is made from phenomenal quality fruit, from the best vineyard in the region. This is one of only two Tasmanian estates in the Langton’s Top 100 Classification.

Planted in 1973, the Stoney Vineyard is the oldest in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. Ancient soil (200 million year old Jurassic Dolerite), and a balanced cool climate, yields stunning Cabernet Sauvignon. Built from the ground up according to a rigorous viticulture regime and uncompromising approach to winemaking, the wines are crafted in small batches using traditional techniques (open vat fermentation, regular racking and hand plunging with extended time on lees).

Matured in 100% new French oak barriques for three years, then bottled and rested in the cellar for four further years, this 2008 Cabernet is perfectly mature, and yet will also cellar for another 10 years+. We are sourcing this wine direct from the estate’s cellars, so this amazing value parcel has perfect provenance.

With a proven record of critical acclaim, including a 5* Winery Award from Australian wine authority James Halliday, this wine is firmly among the elite of Australian wine.

Jancis Robinson asks: "what more do you need from a Bordeaux blend?", and Wine Advocate says that this "truly special" Bordeaux blend is "worth the effort to find".
