From the Makers of Sassicaia | San Guido Le Difese 2019
The maker of the £1,025 per case Sassicaia, we sold over 100 cases the new release of San Guido's Guidalberto a few weeks ago but another great value release from this estate is their third wine, La Difese.
First produced in 2003, La Difese quickly established itself as the value Super Tuscan of choice for many Italian wine lovers and this new 2019 release looks to be the most compelling prospect yet. Scoring 92 points from the Wine Enthusiast's Kerin O'Keefe, its highest scoring ever, and costing just a measly £11.67 per bottle IB, this is the combination of pedigree and value we could get use to.
Made from a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Sangiovese in 2019, it provides an array of 'enticing aromas' (WE). The medium bodied palate is 'savory and elegantly structured' with supple, polished tannins and fresh acidity to keep it balanced. Thankfully constructed to be enjoyed straight away, it will also cellar for a few years for those you like to lay down their wine.
Offered today at the global lowest price of only £140 per dozen IB, if there is a vintage to be introduced to San Guido Le Difese then 2019 should be it. As the baby sibling of the iconic Sassicaia with its combination of quality, pedigree and price make Le Difese a standard-bearer for value Super Tuscans.
