Noah Bramaterra Salero 2019 & Lessona 2018
Nestled in the picturesque foothills of the Italian Alps, the Northern Piedmont wine region is an enchanting destination for fine wine collectors seeking remarkable value for their money. As you journey through this captivating area, one winery stands out among the rest: Noah. This charming 3.8-hectare estate in the quaint town of Brusnengo first captivated us during our autumn 2021 visit with their exquisite Bramaterra 2015 release, sparking our love affair with the untapped potential of Alto-Piemonte.
Founded in 2010 by Andrea Mosca and Giovanna Pepe Diaz, Noah was born from a desire to create a simpler life for their family. This boutique, artisanal approach to winemaking has propelled their wines to become the epitome of Alto-Piemonte Nebbiolo. Ensconced in a lovingly restored historic farmhouse that doubles as both family residence and winery, Noah employs an organic methodology, yielding extraordinary results.
We are thrilled to present two of their artisan handcrafted wines from the compelling 2018 and 2019 vintages. These exceptional offerings encapsulate the essence of their terroir and stand as impressive achievements for an estate established just over a decade ago. Showcasing Noah's fabulous set of new releases, these wines are an unbeatable value proposition.
The crown jewel of our selection, Branaterra Salero, has garnered much acclaim at Cru in recent years. Situated a mere 100km north of the prestigious Barolo and Barbaresco regions, the Branaterra DOC cements its status at the pinnacle of the region’s hierarchy. The 2019 Salero, comprised of Nebbiolo and two indigenous Italian grapes, unveils the exotic allure of Bramaterra. Described as "another gorgeous and super expressive wine from Noah" (VN), this beautifully lifted Nebbiolo enchants with notes of "sage, mint, lavender, rose petal, sweet dark cherry, licorice, and spice." Ready to drink and priced at a mere HK$1,200 / S$210 per case IB, this captivating wine is not to be missed.
For those seeking a touch of aristocracy, look no further than the Lessona, a pure Nebbiolo sourced from 20+ year-old vines. Boasting a firmer, more refined structure reminiscent of old-school Barbaresco, this wine exudes a quasi-Barbaresco impression at an astonishing HK$1,600 per case. Garnering 95 points from Vinous' Antonio Galloni, the 2018 Lessona captures "all the exotic beauty of Nebbiolo in this appellation" and ranks among the highest-scoring Nebbiolos from Alto Piedmont. With a drinking window spanning several decades and an unbeatable price of HK$1,600 / S$280 per case IB, this exceptional wine is a true steal.
