Located in the Loire Valley, Savennières is a highly respected white wine appellation renowned for making some of the most delicate Chenin Blanc money can by. A tiny appellation with approximately 30 producers, their vineyards occupy the northern bank of the Loire river and produce intensely flavoured whites with discernible minerality and nerve – a gift from the soil full of schist, clay and slate.

One of the top and relatively young estates in the region, Domaine FL was created in 2007 by Philippe Fournier through the marriage of two estates in Anjou-Savennières - the historic property of Château de Chamboureau on the north side of the Loire and a collection of vineyards from Domaine Jo Pithon.

Joining forces with his son Julien and the enigmatic Burgundy consultant, Kyriakos Kynigopoulos, Philippe and the team manage just five hectares of vineyards in the Loire Valley and create some of the most intense, energetic and minerally rich Chenin Blanc that has impressed the world over.

Outscoring Loire icons like Nicolas Joly, Eric Morgat and Château Soucherie, the estate's organic Savennières Chamboureau 2018 is James Suckling's highest ever scoring Savennières with 98 points. All while maintaining an incredibly low price-tag of just over £19 per bottle IB.

A wine that if you 'stare into the abyss... it will stare back at you' (JS), the Chamboureau comes from ancient plots located around the Château. This 2018 has 'such an incredible depth' of aromas of citrus, exotic fruits, dried-flower and fresh herbs that 'you could get lost in the bouquet' (JS).
