Beaujolais is one of the best value wine regions in all of France. Collectors can find some truly jaw-dropping wines at incredibly low prices. One of the best examples of this is the Clos de la Roilette Fleurie 2018.

Scoring 94 points from the Wine Advocate and 93 points from Vinous, this gorgeous Fleurie 2018 from Clos de la Roilette costs just £9.20 per bottle in bond - a remarkable price for such a high scoring wine with potential cellaring up to 2035.

The Clos de la Roilette Fleurie 2018 comes from vines planted in soils of rich clay and manganese, ranging from 30-45 years old. The vineyard lies on the border of Moulin-à-Vent, the most notable cru in Beaujolais, and this Fleurie is always more structured than many of its local counterparts.

From a 'big and beautiful' vintage according to William Kelley, the Burgundy correspondent for the Wine Advocate, this 2018 Fleurie is 'showing very well'. Kelley calls it 'gourmand and expressive', revealing a 'bouquet of ripe cherries and cassis mingled with spices, violets and peonies' .

Clos de la Roilette boasts a long history dating back to the 1920s, when their wines were formerly labelled and traded under the commune of Moulin-à-Vent. By the mid-60s, the previous owner’s heirs had lost interest in the estate and so these prime sites were left unattended and wild until the Coudert family acquired them in 1967. Since the acquisition, Fernand Coudert has fully rejuvenated the vineyards and now with his son Alain at the helm, Clos de la Roilette produces some of the most sought-after wines in Fleurie and the wider Beaujolais region.

Offered today at only £110 per 12 bottles in bond, the Clos de la Roilette Fleurie 2018 is undoubtedly a bargain that won't be around for long.
