Storage

Storage

Building a wine collection means making some tough decisions. Which chateaux do you buy EP this year? Is this a vintage to go big on Burgundy? Do I want to make a splash in Barolo? There are enough choices to make regarding which wines you buy; you shouldn’t have to waste any more bandwidth on where to keep your wine.

That’s why Cru’s storage solution is designed to be as convenient, user-friendly and straightforward as possible. Every step of the process can be controlled directly by the customer, including where the wine is stored, whether it should be listed for sale on your behalf and, ultimately, delivery. As easy on our desktop website as it is through mobile platforms and our industry-leading mobile app, there simply is no platform as intuitive.

Unlike many merchants offering their own storage Cru charges no upfront fees. While many charge customers in advance, some even going so far as to require a full year’s worth of fees paid in advance. However we think it’s much more appropriate to only ask you to pay for the services you use and charge for storage while your wines are actually being held by us. In addition, every case that arrives into your storage is granted a 30 day grace-period free of charge.

We know that many customers who choose to work with Cru do so because our network of global hubs in Bordeaux, Hong Kong, Singapore and London offer the flexibility they require, ease of transport and transparency that brings with it such reassurance that is essential when entrusting us with their valuable wine collection.

We have recently added a number of features which bring further peace of mind with high resolution photos available automatically for an increasing number of wines. For older wines and those which have a history of falling victim to counterfeiting this gives visual proof of provenance and condition, something which most other merchants charge extra for, we feel must be a basic service especially for investment grade wines.

Finally, and perhaps most intrinsic to Cru’s mission when it comes to customer storage, is the ease of transaction that storing with us brings. We are launching our bidding platform which means that customers who list their wines for sale can field bids, showing them the price for which they could immediately action a sale of their wines and at the same time place bids for what they consider a fair price on fellow customers’ wines. We are excited that this major step has been taken toward building a fully interactive community for wine lovers of all stripes, whether serious collectors, enthusiastic connoisseurs or speculative traders.

Cru is rapidly gaining a reputation as an innovator in this field and are proud to have been nominated for the Innovator of the Year award, in addition to Online Retailer of the Year at the prestigious Decanter Retailer Awards 2019. We hope that our customers enjoy being a part of the community of collectors and aficionados that we have built over the past six years. We certainly have!
