The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Carrières 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet that completely subsumes the 100% new oak, whilst the 80% whole bunches imparts discrete white pepper and bay leaf notes that enhance the red fruit. The medium-bodied palate is very tensile and focused with finely chiseled tannins and a vibrant, lightly spiced finish with a touch of curry leaf on the aftertaste. Excellent.Inc. GSTSG$1,093.77 -

This year, the 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru includes 50% whole bunches. The nose is refined and composed - perhaps the most mineral-driven and complex, with fabulous delineation. The medium-bodied palate has filigree tannins, perfectly judged acidity, and silky smooth with a perfectly poised finish. Sophisticated and tensile thanks to the limestone soils, this is a great Chambolle in the making.Inc. GSTSG$1,808.75 -

The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru, which had just been racked and includes 50% whole bunches, opens wonderfully on the nose: quite minerally, very graceful, wild strawberry, cranberry and blood orange aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red fruit, fine grip, and a touch of bitter cherry lending to the natural energy of this Les Fuées. Matured entirely in new oak, I must admit that the wood drives the finish a little, but that will be assimilated with time. Great potential.Inc. GSTSG$1,882.39 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-93)
One third each of whole bunches and new wood. A glowing fresh mid purple. Here we find the elegance that was lacking in the Marsannay, plus some oak which is integrating nicely. Good tension, a fresh enough acidity, dark fruit with some violets, and a long distinguished finish. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted: December 2023.Inc. GSTSG$579.31 -

Sample taken from new and one year old barrel. A rich and even purple, with a dash of new wood. The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Village comes from two parcels, two-thirds from Les Lavières. This fragrant, Vosne-like bouquet offers pretty blueberry and black cherry fruit that seem to blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and incorporates the 30% whole bunches with style. It is very cohesive with a sorbet-fresh, live-wire finish, leaving a dash of residual white pepper to linger in the mouth.Inc. GSTSG$522.55 -

The 2022 Montrachet Grand Cru is the only cuvée in two one-year-old barrels. I don't think it needs new oak. There is real energy and complexity here, orange pith and lemon verbena, touches of lemon curd. The palate is beautifully balanced with great depth and power, far more than the Bâtard-Montrachet. It has a beguiling length and precision, velvety smooth, with a hint of walnut on the finish. Divine.Inc. GSTSG$1,531.34 -

Burghound (93)
(from the climats of Les Treux and Clos St. Denis). This is also trimmed in enough wood to notice on the beautifully layered nose of both red and dark currant, exotic tea, spice and floral wisps. The exceptionally rich and nicely textured medium weight plus flavors are shaped by dense but fine tannins on the mouthcoating and lingering finish where the only nit is a touch of warmth. This too offers excellent development potential and it’s just as well because it definitely needs to add depth with time in bottle.Inc. GSTSG$2,196.83 -
Burghound (91)
(from vines planted between 1937 and 1942). This is also attractively floral in character with its nose of red and dark currant and more obvious earth influence that is also trimmed in moderate wood. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the fleshy yet nicely detailed medium-bodied flavors that flash evident minerality on the dusty and youthfully austere finale where the supporting tannic spine is even finer. This is quite good with fine development potential yet it should also drink reasonably well young.Inc. GSTSG$681.75 -
Burghound (89)
(from Prémeaux fruit in Les Topons, Plantes au Baron and Les Charbonnières). A more floralsuffused nose speaks mostly of a spicy blend of red and dark cherry along with a whiff of the sauvage. There is a bit more size, weight and power to the medium-bodied flavors that possess a lovely texture that isn’t necessarily especially refined though neither is it overtly rustic on the lingering and more structured finale. One to consider.Inc. GSTSG$1,121.57 -

(from a .30 ha parcel of vines). Elegant, pure and exuberantly spicy aromas are trimmed in both a plenitude of floral elements and enough wood to notice. The gorgeously textured medium weight flavors also exude a prominent bead of minerality on the equally firm, moderately austere and impressively persistent finish that displays focused power. This serious, compact and powerful effort also contrasts a velvety mid-palate with a robust but importantly, not rustic finale. Excellent but note well that this is not a candidate for early drinking.Inc. GSTSG$2,767.95 -

(from 10 separate parcels of vines, most of which are located in the lower section of Flagey). Here the expressive and slightly riper nose is spicier still with its markedly floral nose that reflects notes of violet, lavender and rose petal on the black cherry and kirsch nuances. The suave, concentrated and seductively textured middleweight flavors where the velvety mouthfeel contrasts somewhat with the firm, serious and robust finale that exhibits excellent length. This will definitely need time but the quality is impressive for a villages-level wine.Inc. GSTSG$1,523.78 -
