Made from a selection of the best Corvina, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes from the oldest vineyards of Sant'Ambrogio in Valpolicella, the grapes go through slow fermentation after air-drying for about 120 days. Seeing four years of ageing in Slavonian oak casks before release, this resulting wine has a “terrific richness and tannic power”. Suckling notes the breath-taking complexity of "dried fruits, figs, blackberries, bark, mushrooms and hints of wood", he also calls this an "Amarone for the future" because it boasts tremendous ageing potential.

Zenato

Zenato plays an "essential role" (WA) in shaping the guidelines used in the Amarone denomination. Founded by Sergio and Carla Zenato in 1960, the estate is now helmed by their children, Nadia and Alberto who jointly oversee 95 ha. of vines spreading around Lake Garda. Now standing toe-to-toe with greats such as Romano Dal Forno and Quintarelli in terms of quality, their wines are available at a fraction of the price. This has made Zenato a ‘go-to’ name for Amarone fans who are ‘in the know’.
