Vinous (87-89)The 2018 Beaune Boucherottes 1er Cru has a lovely blackcurrant and raspberry bouquet with just a touch of vanilla emanating from the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, soft and rounded with juicy red cherries and strawberry fruit on the finish. Very approachable, although I am not convinced it is long-term. |

Matthew Jukes (18+)The Fifty Finest Wines 2020 I tasted a large number of Californian wines this autumn and I found many of the wines (whites and reds) over-oaked, sweet, far too high in alcohol and generally out of balance. So, when successful wines put their hands up it was very encouraging. This amazing Cabernet had the very traits I associate with exceptionally expensive Californian red wines and yet, when I discovered its price, I couldn’t believe it. I far prefer this cuvée to the ‘Reserve’, which is £55. The key to this wine’s success is its balance. Every element is in perfect harmony. The fruit is pure and resonant, the tannins are classy and there is no weird-tasting oak whatsoever. Profound balance + a delicious flavour = a mention in the Finest Fifty |

Vinous (93)Inky ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes spice-accented cherry and blueberry, while smoke and vanilla nuances add complexity. Sappy and expansive on the palate, offering sweet dark fruit flavors that show liqueur-like depth and a surprisingly light touch. Closes on a gently tannic note, displaying impressive clarity, repeating spiciness and strong cling. |

Imbued with elegance and complexity, Le Grappin Beaune 1er Cru Les Greves Blanc 2018 is a stellar example of fine Burgundy wine from the renowned Beaune vineyards of France. Masterfully crafted by Le Grappin, an artisanal winery with immaculate eco-conscious practices, this wine is a testament to the terroir's heritage. Bearing a luminous golden hue, cultivating a heady bouquet of ripe orchard fruits, nuances of toasted almonds and a delicate mineral undertone, its radiance is undeniable. Wine Advocate (92+)Opening in the glass with aromas of sweet berries, cherries and plums framed by a deft application of toasty new oak, the 2018 Beaune 1er Cru Célébration (Maison Louis Jadot) is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a fleshy core of fruit structured around rich tannins and succulent acids. It's a hearty, generous wine that should evolve nicely in the cellar. As usual, it's a blend of more than a dozen Beaune premiers crus. |
