That's why we've created our "Selection with Condition Photos" page - a curated selection of wines that includes detailed photos of each bottle, so you can make an informed decision before making a purchase. Our photos show the condition of the bottle, including any signs of wear or damage, giving you the confidence to make an informed purchase decision.

Wine Advocate (93)Deep plum, currant, and mineral notes emerge from the concentrated, beautifully balanced, pure 1999 Haut Brion. It seems to be cut from the same mold as years such as 1979 and 1985. There is a hint of graphite in the abundant fruit. The wine is medium to full-bodied, nuanced, subtle, deep, and provocatively elegant. It is made in a style that only Haut Brion appears capable of achieving. The finish is extremely long, the tannins sweet, and the overall impression one of delicacy interwoven with power and ripeness. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2025. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (92+)Subtly leesy aromas of pineapple, honeysuckle and spice; comes across as more floral than mineral today. Very dense but almost magically vibrant and delineated, with the fresh pineapple flavor carrying through on the palate. Finishes with superb persistence. Wears its 14+% alcohol gracefully. Incidentally, Masclet considers the '98 Haut-Brion Blanc the second best release of the '90s, following the other-worldly '94. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-92)(also sur colle) Very good deep ruby. Blackcurrant, cedar and Havana tobacco on the nose. Lush but vibrant, with superb depth of flavor and layered texture for the vintage. Dense but tender. Ripely oaky finish features even, tongue-dusting tannins. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (88)Fresh but reticent black cherry-dominated nose. More closed than the '96 following the bottling, and a bit disjointed today. Seems drier than the '96, but has plenty of underlying sweetness, solid structure, and nicely buffered tannins. |

Wine Advocate (92)The 1990 is an unqualified winner. My instincts suggest it will easily eclipse the 1978. The 1990 exhibits a huge, roasted Syrah nose and the massive power produced by the hot sun and drought of this vintage. It has also benefited from an unbelievably long 40-day maceration. The huge, smoky, superripe nose of herbs, coffee, and cassis is followed by a densely packed, authoritatively rich, nearly massive, surprisingly well-balanced wine. Anticipated maturity: now-2005. Last tasted 12/95. |

Vinous (91+)Deep ruby. Very ripe and warm on the nose, but not pruney or over the top. A big, round wine with lush dark berry and cherry compote flavors and a serious, chewy texture. A bit youthfully inexpressive today but the power and concentration of the material are obvious. Notes of espresso and candied licorice emerged with aeration. Frederic Jaboulet noted that production was down from a normal 20,000 cases to 7,000. |
