Vinous (96-98)The 2019 Richebourg Grand Cru, the first cuvées to be picked on September 15–16 at 21h/ha, has a very intense marine-influenced bouquet, Japanese nori and shucked oyster shells permeating the black fruit. This is very distinctive from other Richebourgs that I have tasted. The palate displays exquisite balance and astonishing focus. One of the most saline Richebourg wines that I have tasted from the domaine out of barrel, this exerts a gentle grip in the mouth and culminates in a sapid finish that rivets your feet to the ground. Profound. |

Jeb Dunnuck (100)If tasting the 2019 Château Lafleur doesn't just blow you away, I'm not sure what will. A perfect wine, if such a thing exists, it offers such a complex, singular profile in its black raspberries, kirsch liqueur, licorice, exotic flowers, white truffles, and sandalwood. On the palate, it has serious structure, yet the tannins build with time in the glass, and the mid-palate density and balance are so flawlessly integrated, you have to actually hunt for the structure. Pure, sensationally rich, and at the same time elegant, with awesome depth of fruit, this is what wine dreams are made of. It might be the finest young wine to ever pass my lips. It needs a solid decade of bottle age, 15 years would be even better (it will still blow your mind any time over the coming decade), and it will evolve gracefully over the following 30-40 years. |

The Wine Independent (100)Le Pin 2018 has a deep garnet purple color. It opens with notions of cedar, blackcurrants, and plum preserves, giving way to sandalwood, anise, and dried roses, plus a hint of cinnamon stick. The medium to full-bodied palate is very perfumed and elegant, with layer upon layer of black fruits and exotic spices plus ultra-plush tannins and seamless acidity, finishing very long and fragrant. WOW. |

The Wine Independent (100)The 2018 Petrus has a deep garnet purple color. It skips out of the glass with lifted scents of Morello cherries, redcurrant jelly, and fresh mulberries, plus suggestions of black olives, truffles, and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is very firm and taut with ripe, grainy tannins and muscular fruit, finishing long and earthy. Typically for this vineyard, it will require patience! |
