Vincent Latour’s expressions are quintessential Meursault. Expressive and expansive, his wines entice wine lovers with exceptional balance, impressive weight and intensity. It is certainly a name to watch and a winery to get hold of.
Hailing from the top climat from Meursault, their Grands Charrons looks like a compelling buy. Hailing from vines of 25-60 years old, the grapes were fermented and aged in demi-muids on lees for 12 months. The resulting wine is an absolute head-turner that possesses a “chewy/mealy texture” and delivers “inviting salty/ citrus aromas”. With an immense length in the finish, Julia Harding MW (JR) has given it an impressive 17+/20 points.
Inviting salty/citrus aroma – really salty and mineral. On the palate, citrus-acid tension, no fat whatsoever. But that freshness is balanced by a chewy/mealy texture that seems to add immense length. That saltiness comes back on the finish. Clearly more complexity to come.
