The flagship of the Torbreck fleet, RunRig is a giant among Australian Shiraz and one of the most consistently exceptional wines of the Barossa Valley. The 2005 is an intricately balanced offering heady aromatics of bramble, cassis and smoked meat. Mineral notes include crushed gravel, struck flint and garrigue while more delicate notes of parma-violets and lavender complete the bouquet. This is a wine for the long-haul, with 25+ years ahead of it though it is balanced enough to drink now.

Producer

Torbreck

Torbreck started in 1994 in Marananga on the Western Ridge of Barossa Valley by David Powell. A former lumberjack, he named the estate after a forest in Scotland. His first release in 1997 gained significant praise. In 2002 they acquired their historic property in Lyndoch, and then in 2008 the estate was bought by Pete Knight. They hand harvest their vines which are 100-165 years old to create intensely powerful and complex wine in Rhone style.
