Wine Advocate (92)

A stunning offering, this is the finest port yet tasted from Gould Campbell. Its saturated purple color is accompanied by aromas of chocolate, blackberry liqueur, smoke, and white flowers. Packed and stacked, with moderate sweetness, high tannin, and a formidable, backstrapping intensity, this impeccably made, rich 2000 will drink well between 2010-2030. A sleeper!

Wine Advocate (87)

Coffee, black fruits, and graphite can be detected in the almost Pauillac-like nose of the dark purple-colored 2003 Gould Campbell Vintage Port. On the palate, this forward medium to full-bodied wine displays chocolate, tar, blackberry, molasses, and plum flavors in a slightly raw yet harmonious format. It has excellent depth, a friendly (if simple) nature, and will be approachable earlier than most top-echelon vintage ports. Projected maturity: 2010-2025. No known American importer.

Vinous (95)

The 1994 Graham’s Vintage Port, which incidentally carries quite noticeable sediment, as there is no fining or filtration, is beginning to show a little bricking on the rim. The bouquet is very harmonious and welcoming, featuring aromas of mulberry, roasted chestnut, pressed rose petals, autumn leaves and a hint of liquorice. The nose is not powerful; rather, it displays a brooding intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin and lightly spiced with clove, pain d’épices and again, a scintilla of liquorice. Though it obviously has another 20 or 30 years in the tank, this mellow Graham’s is drinking beautifully now. Tasted at the Symington Tawny Port tasting at the Tower of London.

Vinous (92)

Good bright medium ruby. High-toned aromas of dark berries, licorice, spices, minerals and sexy oak. Broad and lush on the palate, showing an almost liqueur-like quality but also lovely vibrancy to its black raspberry and floral flavors. This very intense, elegant port finishes with nutty, supple tannins and excellent saline persistence. Has the depth and density to gain in complexity with extended bottle aging but it's not especially tough to taste even today.
