Vinous (90+)(bottled in January of this year; began in 20% new oak and 80% _cuve, then was assembled in old barrels after the malolactic fermentation): Medium yellow. Strong vanillin oak on the nose. Ripe, plush and dry, with the stone fruit flavors currently dominated by oak spice and caramel. Still a bit youthfully austere but fresher than the Cuvée Authentique. Will it absorb the vanillin oak? |

Vinous (95+)The 2017 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is another gorgeous wine from Pinson. Shades of apricot, tangerine, floral-infused honey and mint add shades of dimension to a Clos that speaks to the essence of this famed Grand Cru. Aromatically explosive and wonderfully deep, the 2017 is so expressive and so inviting today. Time in the glass just brings out the wine's depth and layers. As good as the 2017 is now, my feeling is that it is still recovering from its bottling, about five months before this tasting, |
