Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-93)A blend from three vineyards, Perrières, Combes, Créot. Mid lemon not clear, more fruit weight on the nose, into ripe apples here, less citrus, a little tension, matching the opulence of the fruit. Good length again. Tasted: October 2021 |

Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Saint-Aubin Hommage à Marguerite debuted five vintages earlier, a blend of Les Perrières, Les Combes and Les Criots. It has a clean, precise bouquet with crushed limestone filtering through the green apple and white peach notes. Understated by gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with a peachy opening, good depth, a little creamier than other cuvées with ample weight on the Chassagne-inspired finish. Lovely. |

Wine Advocate (91-93)A blend of all Pierre-Yves's premiers crus, the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru is chiseled and concentrated, revealing aromas of pear, freshly baked bread, buttery pastry, mint and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a long, chalky finish, it will really benefit from further élevage. |

Jancis Robinson (16.5++)Very high, next to the forest. Ripens about a week later than Les Chenevottes. ‘The Morgeot of altitude – power and finesse.’ Almost like a St-Aubin. ‘If you pick it too early it can be a bit skinny.’ He has started to pick it a bit later. Pierre-Yves says it needs hot years – like 2019? Barrel sample. Savoury nose and more restrained than Chenevottes on the nose. Still lots of rather aggressive acidity. Needs quite a bit of time. |

Vinous (93+)Bright yellow. Aromas of crushed rock and cold steel dominate the nose. A pure mineral bath in the mouth, with penetrating acidity intensifying and lifting the pineapple and stone flavors. This very sharply chiseled, extremely young Caillerets finishes with a suggestion of chicken-soup reduction that reminded me of a Chablis from Vincent Dauvissat. Lay this one down. |

Vinous (93)(about 50% frost; made from very old, low-yielding vines): Bright, light yellow-green. Pungently mineral scents of lime zest, white flowers, crushed rock, anise, caraway seed and mint. At once vibrant and thick, with flavors of underripe pineapple and grapefruit pith displaying terrific energy and lift. This beauty expanded with air to reveal a silkier texture, outstanding purity and a captivating crushed-chalk dustiness. Incidentally, Pierre-Yves Colin told me that he's currently enjoying white wines from his 2003 through 2006 vintages at home--but nothing younger than that. |

Vinous (92+)(4.3 grams per liter acidity): Bright, pale yellow. Restrained aromas of lemon and vanilla. At once dense and penetrating, showing an urgent Riesling-like quality and noteworthy energy to its citrus and mineral flavors. Densely packed, plush and long but youthfully backward. This seriously concentrated wine has the stuffing and structure to age but is not particularly austere today. |

Vinous (90-93)(Colin has just a single one-year-old 500-liter barrel of this juice): Ripe but very reticent nose hints at green apple. Tactile, peppery, dry and classic, conveying a dusty impression of extract. Tight, primary flavors of peach and white peach show a savory, sappy quality. Here's a young 2016 that might be compared to a 2010. This still needs further élevage to stretch out, and lose some of its CO2. |

Vinous (91+)Bright, green-tinged yellow. Aromas of lime, ginger and mint call to mind a mini-Chevalier-Montrachet. Juicy, pure and tightly wound, showing none of the exotic character of the Chatenière. This very concentrated, dry, linear wine finishes with terrific slowly unfolding length and precision--a bit austere today but not hard. Rémilly is just over the hill from Chevalier-Montrachet, so it's no coincidence that this is an outperformer for its appellation. Only 50% frost here, noted Pierre-Yves Colin. Lay this one down. |

Vinous (89-92)(from three essentially south-facing vineyards; one-third 25-year-old vines and two-thirds 55): Pale yellow-green. Quite different on the nose than the Chatenière, offering fascinating scents of lemon and white peach complicated by herbs, mint and a suggestion of petrol. Impressively rich and thick but not oily, with flavors of lemon and lime ice enlivened by nicely integrated acidity. The palate-saturating finish is tactile but smooth, displaying terrific lift and length. There's no obvious rain effect here, due to the slope of the vineyards. |

Wine Advocate (91)The 2014 Saint Aubin 1er Cru Chatenière has a more reserved and laconic bouquet compared to Pierre-Yves's other 2014 Saint Aubins, more backward and requiring more cellar time. The palate is fresh and crisp, quite precise with nectarine and lemon peel notes, peach following later with a light brush of honey. This is a punter-friendly Saint Aubin and I don't intend that in a bad way - just a wine that is delicious to its core. |
