    Domaine Dujac

    About Domaine Dujac

Domaine Dujac remains one of the most revered producers of Burgundy and continues to drive Burgundy collectors mad with desire. Founded in 1968 by Jacques Seysses, who spent years travelling around Burgundy honing his craft by learning from the likes of Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Charles Rousseau of Domaine Armand Rousseau.

This Morey-Saint-Denis-based producer is one of the region’s top cult wineries. Gaining a reputation for rich, full-bodied Red Burgundy, the modus operandi was to make use of whole-cluster fermentation and 100% new oak. A trademark style continued until 1999, the estate remains one of the most sought-after, distinctive sources of Burgundy.

    Vinous (96)

The 2016 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru really delivers on the nose. It is just as ebullient in bottle as it showed in barrel with vivacious red cherries, crushed strawberry and mineral scents. A subtle touch of pressed rose petals emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine structure that grips the mouth, quite dense with a mixture of red and black fruit laced with tobacco and a light marine/saline note that becomes more accentuated with time. Superb. Tasted at Flint Wines Domaine Dujac tasting in London.

    Vinous (93-96)

(the estate made a full crop of 40 hectoliters per hectare, as there was no frost here): Full, dark red. Captivating aromas of raspberry, strawberry, spices, flowers and sweet new oak. Juicy, intense and aromatic on the palate--youthfully imploded in a positive way. Projects compelling energy and subtle sweetness to its red berry and spice flavors. Finishes very long and tight, with an exhilarating wild berry element. A knockout sharply delineated Clos de la Roche that offers terrific intensity without any sense of weight.

    Vinous (92)

The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru is taut and fresh, showing more vigour and mineralité compared to its showing in bottle last year. The palate is well balanced with good depth, a little creaminess coming through towards the finish with touches of orange zest and dried apricot developing. This has caught up with the Folatières since it lagged behind when tasted from vat. Tasted at Flint Wines Domaine Dujac tasting in London.

Barrel sample. Very dark crimson. Rich and voluptuous nose. Spicy with savoury edges and then very sweet. Polished and subtle. Very appetising. Really long and interesting. Builds on the finish.
