Vinous (89-91)The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Village comes 75% from Chalumaux that was declassified in the late Seventies (there is a great story about why that happened, but I’ll leave it for another time). It has a delightful bouquet of green apple, white flowers and orange zest that bursts from the glass. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry, good weight and a discreet touch of spice toward a finish of fine length. A quality village cru that will probably end up at the top of my banded score. |

Vinous (88-90)The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Village comes from two parcels next to the Puligny border. Vinified in 600-liter barrels, it has a well defined, pretty bouquet of Granny Smith apples, lime and touches of petrichor. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, good weight on the midpalate and satisfying salinity on the finish. Recommended. |

Vinous (88-90)The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Village comes from two climats populated with 45-plus-year-old vines that are close to Puligny, which explains the green apple and wet limestone aromatics. The palate is crisp and taut, very linear and focused. A twist of sour lemon toward the malic finish extends the length. Good energy here. |

Vinous (87-89)The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has a light apple blossom bouquet that opens teasingly over four or five minutes...but I still want more. The palate is nicely balanced with a dab of ginger on the entry, opening with aeration and has a fine saline finish. This should drink well for several years. |
