Vinous (88)Bright pale yellow; healthier than the village Chassagne-Montrachet. Aromas of apricot, hazelnut and nutty oak. Offers good texture and breadth, with more firming lemony acidity than the village Chassagne or the Bourgogne Blanc Le Clos du Château de Puligny-Montrachet (winemaker Brian Sieve described this wine as more representative of 2016). But still a bit tight--and not a floral style of Puligny. Finishes with good penetration and length, if slightly aggressive. |

Vinous (87-89)The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Village has a pretty nose with Granny Smiths, greengage and touches of white asparagus; the underlying mineralité becomes more evident with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, saline and lightly spiced towards the composed finish. This is a decent Puligny Village. |

The Domaine de Montille Bourgogne Blanc Clos du Chateau 2018 showcases the elegance and refinement of the French winemaking tradition. This exquisite white wine hails from the esteemed Bourgogne region, creating under the meticulous hands of the Domaine de Montille, a respected wine producer noted for their stringent and sustainable viticultural practices. The 2018 vintage reflects an ideal harmony between ripeness and acidity, thanks to the excellent weather conditions of the growing season. The hand-picked Chardonnay grapes were gently pressed to capture the purity of flavour and matured in oak barrels, imbuing additional depth and complexity. The end result is a wine of layered aromatics, hinting at citrus and white blossom, accompanied by an alluring minerality on the palate. Savour the Domaine de Montille Bourgogne Blanc Clos du Chateau 2018 as a standalone experience or a companion for finely crafted dishes. |

Vinous (87)Gold-tinged yellow. Rather exaggerated aromas of hazelnut and almond. Fat yellow fruit flavors are supported by decent acidity but could use more definition. Finishes a bit dry-edged, with hints of nutmeats and oatmeal. Not a great showing, and likely to evolve quickly. (Incidentally, I found the Bourgogne Blanc Le Clos du Château de Puligny-Montrachet a bit too tropical and liqueur-like, with its nutty oak element amplifying its hint of oxidation.) |

Vinous (87-89)The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has a light apple blossom bouquet that opens teasingly over four or five minutes...but I still want more. The palate is nicely balanced with a dab of ginger on the entry, opening with aeration and has a fine saline finish. This should drink well for several years. |
