Vinous (92-94)Bright red. Sexy, high-toned aromas of strawberry, raspberry, crushed-stone minerality, rose petal and truffle, complicated by an exotic suggestion of white fruits (Claude de Nicolay compared it to a riesling!). Wonderfully perfumed and stylish, with bright acidity giving definition and lift to the strawberry and rose petal flavors, with the exotic quality carrying through in the mouth. More youthfully imploded than the Bressandes, but the tannins arrive late, allowing the wine's perfume to fill the mouth and linger. |

Burghound (93)Once again there is a sufficient amount of reduction to warrant a thorough aeration. By contrast there is a lovely vibrancy and freshness in the mouth with plenty of sauvage character present on the velvety and caressing big-bodied and muscular flavors that coat the mouth thanks to the abundance of dry extract that also serves to buffer the very firm tannins on the moderately austere, serious and hugely long finish. As good as this is though it's not clear at this very early juncture whether it will ultimately surpass the Bressandes. Still, both possess outstanding development potential and are of first-rate quality. |

Vinous (95)The 2018 Corton Clos-du-Roi Grand Cru was the standout when I assessed the 2018s out of barrel; now, in bottle, I have no reason to alter that view. Displaying spellbinding delineation and clarity on the nose, this articulates the terroir extremely well, offering precise red fruit mixed with crushed rock/flinty aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, unerring purity and a silky texture that lingers long in the mouth. Feel that salinity tingling on the tongue after the wine has departed. Pure, unadulterated Pinoté! |

Vinous (92)Full, dark red. Urgent primary red fruit and sandalwood aromas suggest a distinctly exotic carbonic maceration quality that reminded me of Beaujolais. More classic on the palate: broad, spicy and dry, with superb aromatic perfume to the flavors of red fruits, earth and crushed stone. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and a captivating light touch. |

Wine Advocate (94)The 2016 Corton Bressandes Grand Cru is also showing extremely well, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cassis, ripe plums, dark chocolate, dried flowers and spices. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and velvety, with a deep, layered core, succulent balancing acids and a long, intense and beautifully soil-driven finish. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare, this is an exceptional Bressandes that will be well worth seeking out. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93-95)The 2018 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru comes from four parcels of vines, totaling 1.5 hectares, on the mid-slope. Slightly deeper in color than the Les Maréchaudes, it has more depth and complexity on the nose, the blackberry, raspberry, wild hedgerow and damp-earthy, mossy aromas soaring from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins, and smoother and silkier than the Les Maréchaudes, leading to a sensual, pure, caressing finish. A gorgeous 2018 from Chardonnay des Briailles. |

Vinous (94-96)The 2020 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru, 100% whole bunch, has a detailed nose, a little more backward compared to the Maréchaudes, a touch of silex infusing the quite penetrating red fruit almost sorbet-like with five minutes in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly chalky tannins. This is supremely well focused, more mineral-driven and tensile with a very long finish. Very impressive. |

Vinous (88-90)Medium-deep red. Aromatic but tight nose hints at cherry, dark berries and red licorice. Supple, ripe and tangy, with good but not outstanding depth of flavor and succulent finishing fruit. Tannins are rather easygoing for the vintage. |

Vinous (90-92)(vinified with 30% whole clusters; this finished its malolactic fermentation in August): Bright, dark red. Aromas of cherry, flowers, spices and pepper are lifted by a pungent limestone topnote. Juicy, sappy and sweet; more evolved and showy today owing to the earlier malo. The building tannins are firm but elegant and not at all dry, with the finish delivering lovely length and grip. I like the influence of the stems here. |

Wine Spectator (94)A lean, racy red, featuring cherry, strawberry, spice and mineral flavors. Very compact and linear, this is nonetheless persistent and long on the aftertaste. Coiled and youthful, this will need time to unwind. Best from 2020 through 2032. |

Wine Advocate (92)A complex bouquet of ripe red fruits, warm spices, dried flowers, blood orange and raw cocoa introduce the 2017 Corton Les Maréchaudes Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, satiny wine with silky tannins, a juicy core of fruit and a long, chalky finish. This is an elegant and classy Maréchaudes that should enjoy a broad drinking window. It was already bottled when I tasted it. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91-93)The 2018 Pernand-Vergelesses Ile de Vergelesses 1er Cru comes from mid-slope, east-facing vines on limestone-clay soils. This offers more clarity and delineation than the Les Vergelesses, with vivid red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, quite saline and a little spicier than the Vergelesses, with a longer tail on the finish. This is superb. What you might call proper red Burgundy! |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)A blend of older vines or pinot fin from slightly younger ones. Vibrant magical purple, then the most gorgeous bouquet with a wonderful level of distinction and elegance from this great vineyard. Dark fruit throughout, very stylish, white pepper and spice, perhaps a touch of blackcurrant in with the raspberry, but this is brilliantly done and entirely balanced. The silkiest of tannins. Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (89-91)(from south-facing vines on the upper hillside, which features shallow top soil and a lot of limestone): Bright medium red. A pretty coulis of red fruits on the nose, given punch by rose petal, sexy brown spices and crushed stone. Tightly wound, even youthfully tough, with strong minerality contributing to an impression of inner-mouth tension. Lovely tangy red fruits here, complicated on the end by saline soil tones. Vinous (92)The 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru, already in bottle, has a vibrant, spicy, rose petal and violet bouquet that is even more intense than the Aux Fournaux. The chalk/limestone terroir really shows through here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. It does not quite have the charm and crystalline quality of the Aux Fournaux, but is more masculine and structured, with a lovely marine element tincturing the dark berry fruit toward the chalky finish. Excellent. |
