Decanter (93)Utterly gorgeous freshness and zip, with intensity of flavour. It has a little more Sémillon than usual, due to frost affect the Sauvignon Blanc, which seems to mean the aromatics of the Muscadelle are a little more prominent than a classic Lynch Bages Blanc, adding a white flower honeysuckle lift. It is beautiful and works within the cascade of flavours, although I miss their more classic blend - they probably do too, to be fair. Already bottled. 45% new oak. Exquisite and masterfully crafted, Le Puy Emilien 2014 is an organic, biodynamic Bordeaux blend from the lauded estate Château le Puy in the unadulterated hilly landscapes of Saint-Cibard. Ethereal with complex aromas, this enchanting ruby red wine boasts a rich tapestry of dried fruits, spice mix, and leather undertones. The grounded earthiness and persistent tannins intertwine, surrendering to a lingering fruity finish that signifies maturation in large, century-old foudres enhancing its smooth character. The Amoreau family, traditional wine artisans with 500 years of heritage, have unveiled an exceptional vintage which mirrors the mineral-infused clay and limestone soils of their vineyard. The family's diligent care for their ungrafted vines, absence of synthetic chemicals, and reliance on the biodynamic calendar reflect the natural vinification of the Le Puy Emilien 2014. A true connoisseur will revel in this Bordeaux blend's authentic French character, a testament to steadfast tradition and unabridged passion. |

Wine Advocate (94)The 2006 Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux has always been one of the pinnacle white releases from this First Growth and at ten years of age, I have no reason to change my mind. It has an exquisite bouquet of lemon curd, orange scents and a touch of praline that is very delineated and focused. The palate exhibits fine balance with hints of crème fraiche, almond and even a cheeky dab of marzipan. Funnily enough, it is difficult imagining that this is 100% Sauvignon Blanc and in fact, there is something almost Burgundy-like about this Pavillon Blanc (as I suggested in my barrel tasting note). Irrespective of origin, what it constitutes is a damn glorious white Bordeaux that comes highly recommended. So much so, I would drink this now rather than later. Tasted January 2016. |

James Suckling (93)I love the density and lemon rind character with hints of pear, melons and chalk. Full body, with layers of fruit with flavors of lemon meringue, honey and pears. Long, long finish. Beautiful fruit. Drink or hold. |
