Jeb Dunnuck (94)Coming from the northern part of Saint-Joseph (where the domaine is), the 2020 Saint Joseph Blanc is mostly Marsanne but includes one-third Roussanne, with the élevage occurring in 10% new wood. This beauty got a “wow” in my notes and has a gorgeous bouquet of honeyed peach, pineapple, marzipan, and brioche. Medium to full-bodied, wonderfully textured, and balanced, I'm a fan. It should keep for at least 3-5 years, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it evolve for even past a decade if you're so inclined. |

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (97)The resculpting of Ao Yun over the past few years continues here, wiith medium to full intensity ruby colour coupld with nuanced fragrant spices of rosemary, bay leaf and sage that burst out of the glass. Spring flowers, turmeric, bright berry fruits and a slow and steady lift. Feels like an entirely different expression of classic Bordeaux varieties (Syrah aside) that highlights the impact of altitude, and just brings a ton of personality to the glass. Maxence Dulou winemaker. Shorter ageing also, in a bigger variety of containers - 30% new barrel, 30% neutral barrel, 40% stoneware jar for 12 months followed by 5 months in stainless steel vats. Only 59% of grape harvested entered in Ao Yun, with the rest going into the new village wines, and in this vintage 72% of the blend Ao Yun blend is from the two coolest villages of Adong (2600m) and Shuori (2500m). |

Wine Advocate (91)Despite having similar alcohol levels and acidity and freshness parameters, the 2020 Bonarda comes through as riper than the 2019 I tasted next to it. It reveals some earthy tannins and a faint rusticity, inherent to the variety. 25,000 bottles produced. |

James Suckling (98)Impressive aromas of fresh herbs from the Tuscan coast, such as sage, mint, rosemary and thyme. Blackcurrants, too. Full-bodied with fine, chewy tannins that show beautiful length and consistency. Racy and beautiful, with lots of subtle and refined character. Slightly more cabernet sauvignon this year, which adds class to the wine. 80% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot and 10% petit verdot. Give this about three or four years of bottle age. Try after 2027. |

The Domaine Guiberteau Saumur Les Moulins Rouge 2020 is an exquisite gem from the heart of Loire Valley. Artisan producer Romain Guiberteau has restored a rich family lineage, leveraging limestone-rich soils and organic viticulture to produce this exceptional wine. The 2020 vintage is entirely from Cabernet Franc, with deep, vibrant flavours of red fruit, spiced by a mineral undertone. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts, reflecting an absolute devotion to natural winemaking practices. After 18 months in French oak, the Moulins Rouge 2020 reveals a tannic structure that is both complex and pleasing. Vinous (94-96)The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Clos de Chevaliers Grand Cru totals 6 barrels this year. Wonderful mineralité on the nose here: this is tensile, energetic with a subtle sea cave aroma that gains intensity in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with discrete tropical veins towards the harmonious finish, a hint of frangipane on the aftertaste. Superb. Tim Atkin MW (94)Most of this fruit comes from domaine-owned parcels, but some is purchased. Six parcels in total contribute to this pretty, floral and silky-textured Chambolle. Sweet red fruits spread gently across the mid-weight palate before a light ganache note joins in and brings the wine into a gently fading finish. 2022-34 |

Jeb Dunnuck (96-99)A wine that’s going to flirt with perfection is the 2020 Château Larcis Ducasse. It’s a Saint-Emilion with an almost Pomerol-like depth and power paired with classic Saint-Emilion aromatics and minerality. Incredibly pure notes of black cherries, blackberries, white flowers, truffle, and leafy herb notes all emerge on the nose and it’s full-bodied, with a layered, multi-dimensional texture, thrilling tannins, and a finish that won’t quit. If you get a chance, buy it. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, aging in 55% new French oak. |

Wine Enthusiast (98)A riot of pepper lights up the nose, from cracked black to green peppercorn to hot chili. Flint and leather undertones empower the heat, while aromas of raspberry jam and vanilla provide balance. The palate stays spicy, with snappy, confident acidity, but a sweetness lingers, and a finish of chili and chocolate ties everything together. Transcendent. Drink 2030–2040 or beyond. |

The Wine Independent (95)The 2020 Anthologie Cuvee Ortolan is made from 100% Cabernet Franc, with very small production. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs a fair bit of swirling to reveal notes of crushed redcurrants, black raspberries, and fresh blackberries, plus hints of wild sage, crushed rocks, and pencil shavings. The medium-bodied palate is electric with vibrant red and black berry layers, supported by fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, leading to a long and shimmery finish on this lovely wine. |
