Wine Advocate (95)Dense ruby/purple, it tips the scales at 15% natural alcohol and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Full-bodied in texture, it offers up loads of blueberry, blackberry and raspberry fruit intermixed with some cedar, vanilla and a touch of spring flowers. Impressively built, with good acidity and light tannin, this is a superb example of wine that reaches its prime in 3 or 4 years and lasts two decades. It’s right up there with their brilliant 2005. |

Wine Spectator (92)A structured, weighty style, with dark blueberry, fig and blackberry fruit. There's ample toast, but it's well-embedded. Big but polished. Score range: 89-92 |

Wine Advocate (90)Readers looking for a wine for immediate gratification, filled with plump, fat, fleshy black cherry and black currant fruit and loamy soil notes as well as hints of balsam wood and underbrush should check out this medium to full-bodied, seductive wine, which has more power and density than it normally possesses. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. |

Jancis Robinson (16.5)Laroque is a sizeable estate, but less than half of its 61 hectares is deemed worthy of inclusion in this, the grand vin. It’s a blend of 87% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc, with just a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon, from the estate’s older vines. Very dark crimson. Pretty smart and rewarding, and very obviously right-bank Merlot. Spicy but with good appetising freshness on the end. |

Wine Advocate (93)Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Monbousquet slides effortlessly out of the glass with seductive notes of baked plums, blackberry compote and dried mulberries plus hints of espresso, black olives and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is firmly structured with chewy tannins and lively acidity framing the Rubenesque fruit, finishing long and savory. |

Jeb Dunnuck (98+)From a great, great vintage for all of Bordeaux, the 2010 Pavie Decesse is based on 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that emerges from a vineyard sitting just above Chateau Pavie and was raised in new French oak. This inky beauty is still a baby yet offers incredible opulence in its huge nose of blackcurrants, blueberries, scorched earth, woodsmoke, chocolate, and graphite. With a distinct sense of minerality, full-bodied richness, building tannins, good acidity, and a monster of a finish, it is accessible today in a youthful sense yet needs another decade at a minimum to approach maturity. It will be a 50-60+ year wine. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91+)(14.5% alcohol): Bright, medium red-ruby. Cool aromas of crushed bluberry, bitter chocolate, scorched earth and licorice. Suave, smooth and fine-grained, with harmonious acidity framing and lifting the flavors of pungent red berries, tobacco and wild resiny herbs. Finishes with broad tannins and intriguing hints of herbs and earth. This property is now under the same LVMH ownership as Cheval Blanc and it shows in the wine's silky texture and medicinal reserve. My sample was more complex and layered with extended aeration, without losing any of its verve. |
