2008 was unquestionably the best vintage since 2002. The Billecart-Salmon 2008 is an Extra Brut made from some of the best grapes in Champagne. It is 65% Pinot Noir (Reims and Vallée de la Marne including Aÿ) and 35% Chardonnay sourced mainly from Grand Cru sites in Le Mesnil, Chouilly, Cramant and Oger. After 9 years on its lees, the resulting Champagne is beautiful, with white flower and lemon aromas and a balanced palate of citrus, stone fruit and a lightly creamy brioche.

Producer

Billecart-Salmon has been quietly bringing a touch of glamour to events over the past decade. One of the last family-owned Champagne Houses, they rise above many other Champagne at the same price for its intriguing depth and delicacy. For those in the know, the Billecart Salmon Rose is an essential celebration wine - although, beware, it is often sold by allocation.
