‘50/50’ describes the partnership of winemakers Anne Gros and Jean-Paul Tollot. From the fields to the cellar, all work is divided equally. Finesse and precision are the two main characteristics of these Minervois wines, words more often used to describe Gros’ Burgundian Crus rather than the concentrated reds of the south. The estate’s 35 acres of old vines in Cazelles grow on a plateau at the foot of the Montagne Noir, 660 feet above sea level, the same altitude as Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy. This breathtaking region boasts exceptional terroir, as both limestone and chalk-rich fossils are abundant. The winemaking is hand-harvested and destemmed; fermented with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
